John Tams

John Tams described by Mojo as "one of the ultimate British songwriters" has had a career spanning four decades in every medium. A member of the Albion Band and Home Service he is perhaps best known for his work at the National Theatre and as Rifleman Daniel Hagman in the Sharpe television series. He is a five times winner of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

John has made over 50 albums as singer, musician or producer and continues to tour festivals and concert stages throughout the UK and Europe. He co-wrote the score for all the Sharpe films alongside Dominic Muldowney and has been a long standing collaborator with Jack Shepherd on numerous productions for stage, screen and radio. Later this year John is to receive an Honorary Doctorate from Sheffield Hallam University. John also wrote the music for the hugely successful play Warhorse which opened to rave reviews at the national theatre in London and is set to tour all over Europe and will also be the first play to be aired on radio 2 later this year.
